Wow, I can't even believe it has been almost a year since I last wrote on my blog. Shame on me for neglecting this part of my business. I never could keep up with my own personal diaries growing up either so what can I say? Life gets busy and we fall behind....
I wanted to stop and reflect on my life and business and pour some of my thoughts into my blog. Not your usual business announcements, etc, because if I want to be successful in what I do. I want people to know my true character, my personality and my thoughts..
It's already 2012! This year is off to a great start for me. My youngest Savannah, just recently turned 4 years old! I can't even believe it. Seems like just when I started selling hairbows before boutique clothing back in the day, she was just a little baby... This is a reminder that the years are going fast and my children are all growing up before my eyes. It's kind of sad but I am enjoying every minute of my days just watching all my kids grow.
I have set new goals this year for my business and I have decided to aim higher than ever before! Plans to expand in all areas of my business. My designs, my selection of creations, my relationships with customers, business supporters and partners, and most of all, social and business networking! With it of course, I have to make choices and set plans to make it work. Having 4 kids all different ages, time is precious, something we do not have a lot of. I have one in high school, one in middle school and one in Elementary. Savannah Banana is of course still at home with me but I would not have it any other way right now....
In the past and even every now and then, I find myself exhausted, a little overwhelmed of the demands that is brought upon us when owning a business and running that one man show on your own. Trying to keep a household together and keep a business running smoothly is not easy. Some people do not see this part of your life and you are forced to deal with it on your own..... I am slowly learning to balance family life, school and extracurricular activities, business and friendships. With that, I make sure I find time for God as well. I have to give thanks to the Almighty for all the things, the people and the moments I have in life.... I value all these important things and I will tell you for the past year, my family has been through quite a bit of downfall. But even when things seemed like there was no uphill from where we were going. I kept my faith and stayed positive through all the hard times. My friends and family were there to listen and help cheer me up on my worst days. Maybe to some, right now, I am blabbering! But I am a very honest person. I am deep! I dream and I want those dreams to come true. My heart takes me to places where some may never find themselves. My goals are a bit of a climb, but I am driven and motivated. I am all strapped in and ready to head on up. I have a new attitude in place and I am going to give it my all... I'm passionate about what I do and I am proud of what I have made for myself so far. But I know that it doesn't stop there. There is so much more left to do! Last but not least, and I offer this advice to everyone, not just other business owners but people of all ages, friends and families, always make time to laugh, smile, and love alot! :-) Being positive is very powerful! With it, you can overcome any obstacle......
One suggestion: Make yourself some important boards. An Inspiration board, a Goals and Dreams board and Who I Am Board... An inspiration board is where you will pin all the things that inspire you, ideas of your own and ideas you have found around you... A Goals and Dreams Board is just that! Where you will pin your dreams and goals in life. Places where you want to go, vacations you absolutely want to take, the goals you want to achieve, what you find would satisfy you, and the dreams you want to fulfill. A Who I am Board is where you pin your likes, what you are as a person, anything that makes you you. You can visit your boards every day to help remind you of who you are, what you want in life and what you have to work for... Some things may seem impossible, and even scare you. But those are the goals that are worth every bit of hard work to follow!
I want to post on here two of my favorite quotes that I have always tried to live by and when I forget, I always go back to it to remind me of what's important... This is what keeps me going!

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them."
~ Bruce Lee
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

~~Charity Auction~~
There is a Preeclampsia Charity Auction going on right now on my friend Shannon's boutique fb page. I have one of my items included along with other great boutique's items available for bidding. So if you have a few minutes, take the time to go check the items out and bid ... Proceeds for the charity auction goes towards the Michigan Promise Walk in Michigan. They need to raise $7500. These items certainly aren't anything close to $7500, but every dime means something.... No profit goes to any of the boutique owners. So if you can help. This charity means a lot to many of my friends and it would mean so much to me if you can help.

She's a Hoot!
My youngest, Savannah had her birthday party last Sunday. I can't believe my baby is 3 already! :-( Where did the time go??? It seems like just yesterday I just had her. I couldn't stop gushing over how little she used to be and the changes in her growth but if you look at some of her baby pics and her pics now. You can see the similiarities in her face expressions. :-)
I created this poster collage of her baby pictures to present time. I had planned on embellishing it heavily but I printed out so many pictures and loved them all. I couldn't decide which to choose. Every single one was my favorite. So I just filled the posterboard up. LOL
Now for those owl lovers who plan to have an Owl theme Birthday, here are some pics of what we did for the party. My house is too small for guests in the winter, so we had her party at a clubhouse. I paid someone else to make the cake and had the colors to match. I had planned on trying to make it myself but there was no time for me to tinker around in the kitchen the night before the party, since the last 2 years, I made her cakes and Fondant Icing is very hard to work with. The cake guy actually used gum paste to create the owls so I think I will have to play with those next time as I have never used gum paste before...

For her party, I decided to go with a Bright Colored Owl Theme.... My husband made her owl invites and I just went to town with the matching cake, favors, gifts, and even her custom outfit. I am posting her Birthday dress. This style I have decided to call it Savannah Party Dress... So here is a photo of the "She's a Hoot" Savannah Party Dress... it sells for $80. It has tons and tons of ruffles perfect for twirling. I used non-fray soft knit chiffon which is very light and airy but very soft and bouncy creating that pettiskirt look and feel. If you are interested in having this design recreated for your princess's birthday in different fabrics. Contact me and we can discuss ideas to fit your little girl's personality or birthday/event theme... Made her matching bows to match the dress. I didn't have a lot of time to make something extravagant but I think these were just as adorable......

I made Chocolate and Vanilla Flavored Owl Pops for the guests and we had special Owl Gift bags for each child guest that came. The boys got robot bags since I didn't think they would like the owls too much. It was filled with Owl stuffed animals, owl finger puppet, a handmade owl bookmark I made the night before the party, owl chocolate pops, pencil and candy.
I got her Pinata from Celebrate Express and put together an Owl Gift basket filled with owl goodies. I am adding a photo of her new Owl nightlight which I absolutely love. I ordered this from Amber, check her out on facebook, StarlightsByAmber. You can also find her on etsy. She is really awesome and just very nice and easy to work with. Let her know I sent you!!!
So that's pretty much it! If you want to check out the rest of the pictures, you can find it on my facebook page under the Savannah's Owl Birthday Party Album.... As always, I love comments so leave me some if you have a minute! Thanks for looking! <3 ~ Wild Pixie

If you are reading this, some of you are already fans of the Wild Pixie. Some may be friends and family. And some may not know a thing about me, but curious to find out more. No matter where you come from, I am delighted to have you here reading my stuff. That makes me look a little more important. Hehe. I thank you for giving me your time...
You might know that I was a former co-owner of the boutique Cookie Crumbs Couture. There were 3 of us. Shannon, Tiffany and I. We had a great ride with CCC and we accomplished so much so fast that we were even spotlighted on Fox 2 news Detroit of our designs. Wow, that was an amazing accomplishment and our fan based grew very quickly. In the end though, we all decided we wanted different things. Everyone has different personalities and their own way of making their business what they really want it to be. We all created our own boutiques that reflected who we really are....So here I am...
Who is Wild Pixie???.... The name is Faith and I am a 30 year old mother of 4 beautiful children who I have been blessed with everyday of my life to remind me of the importance of love, passion and creativity. All my kids are very different from each other. They all challenge me everyday but with each personality I learn to become a Mom who is strong enough to get through any rain and storm. I live for them and their happiness.... I have two handsome boys, Sean who is 14 and in his first year in high school. He thinks he is such a stud now... :-) Then there's Skylar who is almost 12 and he was always Mommy's boy. Until recently, he is starting to get some teenage attitude. hehe. Nothing Momma can't fix. I only wish I can persuade him to get a haircut. What do I have to do to convince him that his hair is just too long? Brainwashing anyone???? lol.
Then of course, alas, my 2 precious girls. My reason and inspiration for designing all the beautiful clothing and accessories that Wild Pixie Couture offers you.... Maya is 5. My first girl. The daughter I have waited so long to have. I wanted so bad to have a little princess who I could dress in fun pretty dresses and cute little pigtails. Maya has always been the girly girl. Fancy dresses, hairbows and jewelry with purses in tote. She never goes anywhere without looking fabulous. While I on the other hand look a hot mess standing next to her. It is so not right! LOL. We're working on that!!!... Anyhoo, she's a free spirit just like her Momma! ....
Then there's Savannah, oh my Savannah Banana. She just turned 3 last Sunday. I used to call her Chunky Monkey but she has really thinned out alot. It's so sad, I love chunky babies, but she is so beautiful! I just love to snuggle with her. I really wish they didn't grow so fast!!.... :-( She loves to be pretty but she is also a tomboy!! Oh yes, the girl has the most shoes in the whole house but you can bet there's plenty of high tops, converse and sneakers in the mix of all that sparkles.....
My Designs? I don't stick to any particular theme or style. My creativity pretty much comes from the heart and soul. My personality, thoughts and feelings all reflect my creations so I try to always be positive, happy, and motivated so that my mind is clear of the negative and I don't end up with a crappy design. lmbo. I have a lot of fun with my job and I think it's fabulous!
Of course, I could never do all this without the support of my darling husband, Scott, who is wonderful at pretending that he likes everything I like.
:-) Sure honey, yes honey, that looks GREEAATT!!!!.... GREAT JOB!!!.... Isn't that all we really expect anyway?... The good words. The thumbs up. The hugs and kisses and a little bit of cash to help support the supplies? lol. You can bet he gets his nights when all he wants is for me to hang up the measuring tape and scissors and go sit next to him, watch a movie. He works everyday for 12 hours. I don't see him as often as I'd like so I want to spend all his time home with him. It's still hard trying to find a balance between work, family, and marriage but we survive and our love just grows stronger everyday...
Now that I have written a book. This is just an intro of my life and my business. There's so much more to come. All around me, I am surrounded with an awesome family and the best of friends. There's always a story to tell, a new design to be shared, lots of new ideas, incentives and promotions to come. Follow my blog and feel free to comment. Visit me on facebook if you aren't already a fan. http://www.facebook.com/WildPixieCouture
Thank you again for reading and letting me into your hearts and my designs into your home. <3 You all!!! ~ Wild Pixie
